1-800-CALLGOD
He showed up out of no where asking me about my car. “Do you like it? How is it to drive? What year is it?” At first, I was startled. Who is this guy? Prior to him showing up, there was only one other truck at this gas station and I saw that driver walk in to pay.
I finished filling up my car with gas and made small chit-chat with ‘the stranger’. I noticed my mind wanted to freak out and get away from this man. And yet, my heart was calm.
“That’s really low, ” he noted as he pointed to my back tire. Sure enough it was.
“I can put some air in it,” he offered. I hesitated. Not only was I late for an appointment but my mind kept screaming, “DON’T TRUST HIM.”
Yet again, my heart was utterly calm. I drove around to the air pump and watched as he filled up my tire. He was a shy, gentle spirit. Very polite but almost nervous. Like that of a teenage boy talking to a girl he likes. He offered to help me check all my tires but I really was late now.
I declined but thanked him and put my hand out to shake his. He seemed surprised by this gesture. He handed me a business card and went on his way. As I got in my car, I peered in my rear view mirror to see where he’d come from. But he disappeared around the corner and was gone. Just vanished! All I had was a crisp white card with his name & number. STRANGE…
I stared at the number. I wouldn’t have been surprised if it said, 1-800-CALLGOD.
My little angel of the day…
