Day 23: Happy Easter!
Happy (English) Easter!
I have to qualify this greeting because Ukrainian Orthodox folks celebrate Easter at the end of April. Either way I look at it, it’s my favourite holiday of the year… blessing of the baskets, yummy braided breads, my mom’s cheesecake recipe (it was a hit!!!) and oh, yes, an Easter Egg hunt.
Ironically, this year I missed all the fun. I’ve just spent the last 24 hours in bed. It was heavenly and painful at the same time. Heavenly because I had some of the best sleep in years. Painful because my throat was a row of daggers making the simple act of swallowing more like a sword dance. Ouch! When I opt to spit in a cup versus swallow, something’s going on in that throat of mine! Today, the throat is still sore but I’m on the mend. I can feel it in my bones.
Two days ago I caught myself thinking, “Oh, I’d just like to sleep the whole day away!” Well, my wish came true. Nature has a way of giving us what we need, even if it’s not EXACTLY what we want.
Enjoy this day wherever you are, with whomever you are with, whether you are celebrating Easter or not. Be present to the presence of love in every moment, in all its disguises. See God in every person or thing. Be thankful that God lives as you.
