God Give Me Strength(s)!

A friend sent me an online quiz created by Ken Blanchard (author of “The One Minute Entrepreneur”) that measures entrepreneurial strengths and areas of improvement. What the heck, let’s give it a try.

As I cruise through the questions, I know what the ‘right answers’ should be. I’m tempted to pick those and be that kid who always gets the answer ‘right’. (p.s. I was that kid as a child so I know her well… )

But, these days I’m not interested in being right… just free. So I answer them honestly with a lot of “Sometimes”, which is basically their middle of the road response.

Well, the results reveal a whole bunch of “Needs Development” and a few attributes that are “Developed”.

Am I surprised? Not really. They reflect where I’m at and the transformation underway. They reflect my changing relationship to the conventional “work hard, be productive, set goals, and then achieve, achieve, achieve…” way of life. They reflect my lack of “ego confidence” and dissolving of my “drive to succeed”.

I scan the “Needs Development” list.

“But I am these things (and more)!” I shout.

I AM creative and curious. I AM innovative. I AM a visionary (even though my vision extends only about three feet ahead of me these days…)

Oh, Paula… You truly are in new soil. Even the quiz is telling you that. When will you truly let go instead of just talking about it?

And in this moment, I shed another layer. “How many more do we have to go?” I ask.

“Tons… ” booms the thunderous sky.

P.S. Take the quiz. It’s a good quiz. I’d love to hear what you discover. I plan to redo it again when I’m feeling more on purpose and see if I get different results.
